The historical myxomycete collection of A. A. Jaczewski (1863–1932) at the All–Russian Institute of Plant Protection, Pushkin, Russia (LEP) includes a separate collection of type specimens. In this article, we report our re-examination of this collection using light and scanning electron microscopy and discuss the nomenclatural status and taxonomic position of the examined specimens. For the first time, were employed modern tools to examine 3 syntypes: Didymium subcastaneum (=Polyschismium trevelyanii), Stegasma australe (=Perichaena depressa), Trichia bavarica (=Oligonema schweinitzii). Also were studied 2 “syntypes”: Didymium neapolitanum (=Craterium crateriachea) [nom. inval., ICN, art. 36.1a] and Licea circumscissa f. pannosa (=Perichaena corticalis) [nom. inval. ICN, art. 38.1], and one “holotype” of Dianema czerniakowskii (=Didymium dubium) [nom. inval. ICN, art. 30.1]. One of the taxa, Licea circumscissa f. pannosa, is apparently mentioned for the first time since its description in 1879, as it is now absent from the main nomenclatural repositories.
