Data protection considerations
OPTIMAP does not collect or log your personal data. We only store your email to identify your user account and minimal metadata, such as the date of registration and the last login, to identify and handle stale accounts. Upon your first login, you consent to this processing of your personal data.
You can use OPTIMAP fully anonymously by using a public inbox, such as Mailinator.

Cookies and third-party services
This website does not use any cookies to track users or any third-party tracking services (such as Google Analytics or similar), with the exception of the login status, to which users provide implicit concent by opening an account on the website.
This website utilizes map services provided by the OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John's Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom (short OSMF). Your Internet browser or application will connect to servers operated by the OSMF located in the United login and in other countries. The operator of this site has no control over such connections and processing of your data by the OSMF. You can find more information on the processing of user data by the OSMF in the OSMF privacy policy. This website integrates the OSMF services exclusively for the legitimate interest (cf. article 6.1f of the GDPR) of displaying the map functions to the users of the website for interactive exploration of the presented datasets.
Delete account
You can delete your account yourself after logging in (Settings > Delete account), which will deactivate all notifications and feeds. Stale accounts that have not been used in over a year are automatically deleted after a final warning email.

For what purposes should personal data be processed?
The aim of the research project KOMET is to improve the scholarly metadata commons to aide findability of research outputs based on persistent identifiers and geospatial metadata. The service OPTIMAP provides a platform for the discovery or research outputs based on their geospatial properties.

What is the legal basis for processing personal data?
The legal basis for data processing for the above-mentioned purposes is Art. 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 lit. a for the use of the platform and § 12 SächsDSDG for the publication data with personal reference.
What personal data is processed?
The following personal data is processed for the use of the platform: e-mail address.
Furthermore, publication data of scientists that are publicly accessible are processed for the OPTIMETA web service. Publication data with personal reference are: author name, author affiliation, author persistent identifiers (e.g., ORCID).
How is personal data processed and how long is it stored?
The data for using the platform is collected upon registration and deleted until cancellation or completion of the research project.
Publication data is continuously collected from external sources and processed in the platform. Characteristics from the publication data that can be used to establish a personal reference are deleted as soon as the research purpose allows this (at the latest when the research project is completed).
Is personal data transferred to third parties?
Unless otherwise stipulated by law or you have expressly consented in individual cases, no personal data will be transferred to third parties.
Will personal data be published?
The research results will be published in the usual scientific form. We guarantee that no conclusions can be drawn about your person from the publications.What rights do data subjects have in principle?
Voluntariness and revocation (Art. 7 para. 3 DSGVO) The provision of personal data for the use of the platform is voluntary. Consent can be refused or revoked at any time informally and without giving reasons to the person responsible. Your personal data will then no longer be processed and will be deleted immediately, unless the realisation of the research realisation of the research objectives would probably be impossible or seriously impaired by this and there is there is a legal basis other than consent for the processing (in particular Section 12 (1) SächsDSDG).

Information on the right to object pursuant to Art. 21 (1) DGSVO
You have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you that is processed on the basis of Section 12 SächsDSDG.
