In addition, a marine\n            Pseudomonas putida\n            strain, 2IDINH, and a second\n            Acinetobacter johnsonii\n            strain, ATCC 17909, were used as external controls. Resistance to UV-B and kinetic rates of light-dependent (UV-A [315 to 400 nm] and cool white light [400 to 700 nm]) and -independent reactivation following exposure were determined by measuring the survival (expressed as CFU) and accumulation of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPD). Significant differences in survival after UV-B irradiation were observed:\n            Acinetobacter johnsonii\n            A2, 48%;\n            Acinetobacter johnsonii\n            ATCC 17909, 20%;\n            Pseudomonas\n            sp. strain MF8, 40%; marine\n            Pseudomonas putida\n            strain 2IDINH, 12%;\n            Cytophaga\n            sp. strain MF7, 20%; and\n            Serratia marcescens\n            , 21%. Most bacteria exhibited little DNA damage (between 40 and 80 CPD/Mb), except for the benthic isolate\n            Cytophaga\n            sp. strain MF7 (400 CPD/Mb) and\n            Acinetobacter johnsonii\n            ATCC 17909 (160 CPD/Mb). The recovery strategies through dark and light repair were different in all strains. The most efficient in recovering were both\n            Acinetobacter johnsonii\n            A2 and\n            Cytophaga\n            sp. strain MF7;\n            Serratia marcescens\n            MF42 showed intermediate recovery, and in both\n            Pseudomonas\n            strains, recovery was essentially zero. The UV-B responses and recovery abilities of the different bacteria were consistent with the irradiation levels in their native environment.\n          ","publicationDate":"2006-01-01","doi":"10.1128/aem.01333-06","url":"https://andes.mountain-wetlands-repository.info/api/v1/items/9c25bb75-42e2-403c-84d7-c25884030a82","timeperiod_startdate":null,"timeperiod_enddate":null,"placename":"Argentina","country_code":"AR","source_details":{"id":7,"name":"Mountain Wetlands Repository","issn_l":null,"openalex_id":null,"openalex_url":null,"publisher_name":"Mountain Wetlands Repository (MaRESS)","works_count":null,"works_api_url":null,"default_work_type":"article"},"status":"p","status_display":"Published","authors":["Fernández Zenoff","et al."],"keywords":["Serratia marcescens","Microbiology","Biology","Acinetobacter","Cytophaga","Pseudomonas putida","Pseudomonas","Strain (injury)","Pseudomonadaceae","Bacteria","Serratia","Pseudomonadales","Marine bacteriophage","Escherichia coli","Flavobacterium","Biochemistry","Antibiotics","Gene"],"topics":["Microbial Community Ecology and Physiology","Protist diversity and phylogeny","Marine and coastal ecosystems"],"bok_concepts":null,"bok_concepts_resolved":[],"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2139597538","openalex_match_info":null,"openalex_fulltext_origin":"journal","openalex_is_retracted":false,"openalex_ids":{"doi":"https://doi.org/10.1128/aem.01333-06","mag":"2139597538","pmid":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17056692","openalex":"https://openalex.org/W2139597538"},"openalex_open_access_status":"green"}}
